12 Y/O Girl Proves Politics Is Powerful In The Hands Of Young Women!

Madison-Kimrey

Madison Kimrey is a 12 year old girl from North Carolina. She is not famous, she is not rich (as far as we know) and she is not the heir apparent of any kingdom. But she is powerful. Why? Because she has a voice and is not afraid to use it.

Current North Carolina Governor, Republican Pat McCrory, has been exposed as a little bit of a fool by this young lady. You see, he signed a bill into law in August 2013 which prohibits teens as young as 16 and 17 from preregistering to vote in that state. The kicker is, he also publicly admitted back in July that he hadn’t even read the bill, yet lo and behold he managed to find the time (and reason?) to sign it. Perhaps he is against the youth having a voice or something, but either way, what a douche…

In a protest on Monday, November 11th in Burlington, NC, Madison jumped at the opportunity to speak out about why teens should be allowed to preregister to vote, and why it is important for her fellow youth to get involved in issues that are important to them.

Hilary Clinton eat your heart out!

Kimrey said. “I am part of the new generation of suffragettes and I will not stand silent while laws are passed to reduce the amount of voter turnout by young people in my home state.”

This little spitfire is vowing, come hell or high water, to bring back the ability for teens to preregister by the time she turns 16, and used this protest as an opportunity to show others why this is important.

“Young people — our state needs you,” she said. “Our nation needs you. Pay attention. Find the issues that are important to you and take action.”

For the record, Madison started a group called ‘Youth Rocks’ which is an organization dedicated to educating and encouraging the youth of North Carolina and the elected representatives to “make decisions beneficial to young people in NC.”

Watch her speech, and we dare you not to be blown away by her eloquence, passion and determination. Doesn’t it make you want to be a better person and get involved simply by hearing her speak?

We hope this dynamic young girl will inspire those of you who are passionate about something to seek ways to get involved. If you have a voice you have a duty to use it in whatever capacity you can. That’s how change starts.

Out of the mouth of babes, and into the hearts of citizens and congressionals. All in favor say “I”!
