Alessandra Ambrosio: Having A Perfect Body Isn’t Everything

OK it sounds a little too good to be true, Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio telling all of us that having a perfect body isn’t everything. After all, she IS one of those women with pretty much a perfect body (according to the standards of beauty that we have grown accustomed to).

In the June issue of Self Magazine, the Brazilian bombshell talks about body confidence and where she gets hers from. Don’t worry, it wasn’t just about her, because Alessandra wants women to live their lives with confidence too, no matter where they are at and what they look like.

Also, here’s something you probably didn’t think any VS Angels have: cellulite! And Alessandra ain’t afraid to admit it.

“I have some, every woman does!”

The mother of two says embracing your own body is the key to having confidence and not comparing yourself with others.

“Accept what you have and make the most of it. In Brazil, it’s all about the butt. Some girls naturally have the big round one, and they aren’t shy about it—that makes them sexier. Others work out to have it,” she said.

“Every woman has a different metabolism and different genetics, so rather than compete with one another, concentrate on yourself and be the best you can be. Everyone has days when they don’t want to show anything. That’s what the good ol’ jeans and a T-shirt are for. So many times, I haven’t felt ready for shoots. I’m like, why didn’t I work out more? But it’s life.”

Here’s what she says about having the perfect body and why that shouldn’t be our focus in life.

“Having a perfect body isn’t everything. I want my daughter to be nice, have a good education and be disciplined. That’s what makes people like her. A perfect butt doesn’t make an amazing person. It’s about feeling confident.”

Confidence isn’t about having an ideal body weight or shape, it is about who you are inside and what you choose to put your focus on. Your worth and value aren’t dependent on your physical appearance, never forget that ladies!

  1. I think to be classified as a “supermodel” it’s more about being a certain height and body shape that all other supermodels have. And then I guess they feel under constant pressure to maintain those exact proportions so their daily lives might revolve around working out and diet and scrutinising their appearance. Of course they are beautiful but I don’t actually find supermodels any more beautiful than other girls you see every day of different looks and proportions. I don’t think beauty takes that much effort at all. It looks good when you are all glammed up but it does too when you aren’t wearing any make-up. Or if you put on 15kg or wear daggy clothes. Just be confident and rock the body you’ve got. What you might think of as flaws when comparing yourself to a supermodel might just be your secret weapon in the beauty stakes 😉
As for cellulite I like it! And of course by far the most important quality with beauty is the inner you and not your physical appearance at all
