This is by far the best thing you’ll see today and will not only warm your heart, but hopefully stir you into action. There is a group called Bikers Against Child Abuse which is a non-profit organization who do exactly what their name says. They started in the United States but now have chapters all over the world (unfortunately child abuse exists everywhere and they need warriors like this) in Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, and Australia.
“We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse.” states the website’s mission.
While they don’t condone violence or the use of physical force, they aren’t opposed to it wherever necessary, coz sometimes you gotta use more than words. After all, they aren’t big huge scary dudes and dudettes for nothing.
Many of these members have experienced abuse themselves and dedicate their lives to changing the future of the next generation by using the power they have. How incredible! Also just a note, they don’t refer to themselves as a ‘biker gang” but as “warriors against child abuse”.
Bikers Against Child Abuse was founded in 1995 by a Native American child psychologist whose ride name is Chief, when he came across a young boy who had been subjected to extreme abuse and was too afraid to leave his house. He called the boy to reach out to him, but the only thing that seemed to interest the child was Chief’s bike. Soon, some 20 bikers went to the boy’s neighborhood and were able to draw him out of his house for the first time in weeks.
Chief’s thesis was that a child who has been abused by an adult can benefit psychologically from the presence of even more intimidating adults that they know are on their side. “When we tell a child they don’t have to be afraid, they believe us,” Arizona biker Pipes told azcentral.com. “When we tell them we will be there for them, they believe us.”
The way it works is that if a child is being abused and their case has already been reported to a local authority, a member of the BACA group will be contacted and given the details. The group organizes a “ride out” to that child’s home to meet the victim, they get to know them and give them an honorary BACA jacket with their very own bikie name sown on a patch on the jacket.
Two members of the BACA org. are assigned to that child’s case to check up on them and be their mentor and help whenever they need, and just generally make their strong presence felt in the child’s life so they don’t feel threatened by their harmful situation.
They have a number of intervention levels, ranging from initial meet up, to constant presence in the child’s life, all the way to neighborhood awareness rides and door knocks if the abuse continues. They don’t give up on any child. This is the TRUE meaning of “no child left behind”.
If a case goes to court, the bikies will be right there to support the kids they mentor and help, ensuring they don’t feel threatened by any perpetrator to speak the truth and stand up for themselves. This is seriously amazing!
Their creed states: “I am a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse…I wont look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still…I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity…I wont give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and showed up for all wounded children…”
Amen to these men and women who live to see the next generation empowered to live their lives free of fear, pain and abuse!
Watch the video below and please share this with everyone you know today. There may be a child going through a tough time and may need some support. We are so blown away by the love that these big tough men and women are passing on to kids in a powerful way. We dare you not to choke up as you watch this, and feel inspired and empowered in a whole new way.
Life is not about waiting for others to do something meaningful or amazing, it’s about getting it done! Whether you are a bikie, a lawyer, a student, a mom, a teacher, a writer, an actress etc, we encourage you to use your voice, stand in the gap and speak life into those around you who may be needing you.
What an inspiration these bikies are. This is how it is supposed to work! I love this.
