Cameron Diaz Has A Timely Message About Body Image & Jealousy Amongst Women

Actress Cameron Diaz has one of the most enviable bodies on the planet for her age. If you want to find out why she is in such good shape at age 41, you could buy her ‘Body Book’ which she recently released, or just read some of the amazing quotes she gave in an interview with the Daily Telegraph in Australia while promoting her new movie ‘The Other Woman’.

The film stars Cameron, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton who are all in some way connected to the same man (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from ‘Game of Thrones’). Each of the women are pitted against each other as they are initially trying to fight for the attention of one man, but the plot soon becomes about the girls banding together against Coster-Waldau.

Cameron and Kate, 21, talked about body image and jealousy in the video below in a way that will serve to be a great message for us all. Too often women hate on each other because of jealousy of each other’s bodies, but Cameron’s advice is to take care of your own body the best you can because comparisons never get you anywhere.

When asked whether she was intimidated filming a bikini scene alongside swimsuit model Kate Upton, Cameron had this to say:

“I am 20 years older than her. I am not trying to be her. We are clearly two different people and I celebrate her. She is a beautiful woman. We are completely different,” she said.

“I don’t wish I was 21 any more. I am very happy to be 41 and I love it. I feel great about my body. I take care of myself. It is important to me.”

“I wasn’t like, ‘oh my god, I am going to be in a bikini and Kate is going to be in a bikini and what is everyone going to think of me’.”

Instead she uses the interview as an excuse to talk about the importance of female friendships, and how this movie encourages that.

“The core of it, the centre of it is that these three women are friends and that they come together and they do what women do which is hold each other up and help each other get through hard times even when they are suffering heartbreak from the same man,” she said.

It’s interesting to note that Cameron was originally a model herself and shot to Hollywood fame in the the 1994 movie ‘The Mask’ alongside Jim Carrey. 20 years later, Kate Upton is now doing the same thing and its nice to see both of them come together and support each other.

“This is a movie that is for a celebration of women so I would say absolutely it is a (feminist movie), it is a depiction of modern women more than anything and I do like that.”

Cameron recently sat down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about her new book and body image for older women.

“This idea that being youthful is the only thing that’s beautiful or attractive simply isn’t true. I don’t want to be an ‘ageless beauty.’ I want to be a woman who is the best I can be at my age,” she said.
