We had the chance to chat with Claudia about ‘Perfect Addiction’, her author inspirations, and her advice for aspiring writers like her.
Where did the idea for your “Perfect” series initially come from?
Honestly, there wasn’t much of a plan when I started out the series on WattPad. Perfect Illusion was supposed to be a stand alone, but after I finished that, the idea of having a shared ‘universe’ where these couples were friends intrigued me, and that’s how the Perfect series was born!
Your new book ‘Perfect Addiction’ is undoubtedly going to excite your fans and readers. What can they expect from the new book?
Lots of angst and lots of undeniably steamy chemistry!
What are your biggest romance novel inspirations? And where do you turn to in pop culture for reference or inspiration?
I love anything by Colleen Hoover; I love that there’s always some kind of life lesson to be learnt from her stories apart from the romance. As for pop culture, I’m obsessed with rom-com movies from the early 2000s!
We love that you create strong badass female lead characters! Why is this important to you?
I think it’s so important to have female characters you can look up to that not only are kicking some serious ass, but also you get to see their biggest flaws while doing so. I think it’s the reason why readers are so drawn to the character of Sienna – she’s strong, physically speaking, but she makes some questionable decisions in the process, but her journey to overcome her flaws is something that feels rewarding to see.
We were excited to hear that ‘Perfect Addiction’ is going to be made into a film! Can you tell us more about what we can expect, and any casting news you can share with us?
Yes, I can’t believe that it’s all happening! I am so excited that this project which began on Wattpad is now being given the opportunity to be turned into a full feature film with Wattpad WEBTOON Studios. The cast (Ross Butler, Kiana Madeira and Matthew Noszka) is amazing and I am so excited for my fans and readers of the series to see it on the big screen and for people to fall in love with these characters all over again.
Erotic romance novels are quite the popular trend among even Gen Z readers! Why do you think this genre is so big?
I think as young women are coming into their own sexuality, they want to read their journeys reflected in fiction as well! Erotic romance was once something that maybe felt shameful to read, and it was purely marketed to older women. I love that we, as the new generation, can talk openly about our kinks and what we like from our partners.
When you are not busy writing books or writing songs, what kind of novels do you like to read? What is something that immediately hooks you in about a story?
Romance novels, for sure! An intriguing premise is always a must!
For any aspiring writers out there, what advice would you give, and how would you encourage them to set themselves apart from the rest of the crowd?
Let your personality shine a little bit in your writing style! There are too many books out there that have a great premise but feels too bland in writing. Let loose and have fun!
