Hayden Panettiere’s Secret For Not Becoming A Hollywood Wild Child

It’s a common occurrence amongst young Hollywood starlets who become so ingrained into the fame lifestyle that they take a turn for the worst. They are lured away from a great career by drugs, alcohol, sex, money and anything that can damage their souls from a young age.

It’s sad when we see the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Bynes, and now even Paris Jackson fall into that trap. Perhaps it is a cry for attention or help? Either way it is a struggle for these young women, and the media poking fun at them daily on gossip blogs is only adding fuel to the fire.

One young starlet that has her feet firmly on the ground and her head in the right place is Hayden Panettiere. We certainly don’t see her falling out of nightclubs or splashed across the TMZ headlines for anything crazy. So what is her secret for balancing a great career while staying grounded in her personal life? She spoke to the BBC Morning show and dished the dirt.

She credits her amazing group of friends and family for helping her stay focused in her career. The now 23 year old actress started her leading role runat the tender age of 6 on the drama series ‘One Life To Live’ and since then played cheerleader Claire Bennett in the popular ‘Heroes’ TV show, and now most notably she appears in ABC’s ‘Nashville’ playing a Taylor Swift-esque character Juliette Barnes.

Ironically, her character on Nashville is the one who goes off the rails with drinking, a tumultuous relationship with her mother and sleeping around with various men. But you won’t see Hayden doing that in real life, who is dating 37 year-old boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

“I’m no different to anyone else and those same doors were opened to me and they are very easy to walk through – drugs, alcohol, being in inappropriate places where you shouldn’t be at a certain age – it’s a very tough position to be in but I had great people to pull me back from it.” she told the BBC presenters Charlie and Louise this week on the show.

She also explained how it wasn’t just the fact that she had those things thrown at her, but that the media was waiting for her to slip up and document it.

“Being a young female growing up in this industry is tough. And I grew up in the generation of the wild child- I was guilty by association. So everyone sits there and waits for you to fall of your horse.

“But as long as you have people who are willing to tell you the truth and are not afraid to tell you the truth, and who are there to yank you back when you need it and give you a reality check – it makes a world of difference.”

Well done Hayden for having the smarts to surround yourself with the right kind of role models in your life and recognizing the need to good guidance. We love to promote role models and celebs like Hayden who are talented but also have a great message for all young aspiring actresses. Stay grounded, stay focused and don’t get distracted by the glitz and the glamor. Money and fame can disappear in a second, but it is your reputation and dignity that people see for a long time.
