She Was Arrested
Martha Stewart was arrested in 2004 and charged with lying to the federal investigators regarding an insider trading scandal. After the insider trading scandal, Martha Stewart decided to give up her broker license and never practice stock trading again. On June 17th, 2004, she was sentenced to serve five months in prison at Federal Prison Camp Alderson in West Virginia, which is a minimum-security prison that deals with female offenders.
However, when Martha arrived at the prison there was some confusion due to some missing paperwork which said that Martha should be assigned to a minimum-security facility in Florida instead of West Virginia. However, since Martha did not have an attorney present during sentencing this mistake was made by the judge, and Martha was sent to Alderson anyway. This incident caused Martha to be recognized as the first person to ever leave a minimum-security prison and return voluntarily.

Martha Stewart’s autobiography was released in 2005 and it made history becoming the first nonfiction hardcover book to debut at number one on the New York Times Best Seller list.
