Vogue Italia is often thought of as the bible of the fashion industry because of its ground breaking style knowledge and trends. Well now it has broken yet another barrier by using its first Asian covergirl. Her name is Fei Fei Sun and has so far, in her career, modeled for British Vogue, Calvin Klein, Valentino, Diesel and many more.
She is represented by Elite Model Management, one of the biggest model agencies in the world and now she will forever be known in her country and in the worldwide fashion industry as a girl paving the way for other Asian models.
Her Italian Vogue cover is featured in the January 2013 issue and here are just some of the photos, shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel:
The 31 year old will not be the last Asian supermodel to grace the cover or pages of Italian Vogue, and she is so far in good company with other pioneers. French Vogue was the first European magazine to include an Asian model on its cover, when Du Juan appeared on an issue in 2011.

We here are passionate about the fashion industry utilizing its power to change and adjust its trends and boundaries to empower young women and girls in positive ways. Given that Asia is one of the biggest markets in the world in many industries, it is crazy that it has taken this long for a heavyweight publication like Vogue to call upon an Asian supermodel to grace one of its covers.
