Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Message To Girls With Butts, Boobs, Hips & A Waist

Jennifer Love Hewitt’s body has long been a focus of the media, much like Oprah Winfrey’s weight. It’s really silly to think that the media should even force or form some sort of opinion about another person’s body who is clearly happy, successful and content with the way they look.

Hewitt, who can be seen in the hit cable TV show ‘The Client List’ has spoken to the press many times about body image will never back down, and that’s a good thing. If she caved into all the ridiculous pressure the media puts on her then there would be no strong female role models like her left for us to look up to!

Back when she was on ‘The Ghost Whisperer’ a magazine published some pics of her in a bikini where she CLEARLY looked happy and content, yet whoever was looking for a news item to write about that day clearly was either PMS-ing or woke up cranky because they had to ridicule someone’s body for fun.

I mean are these photos even newsworthy?!? This is what she had to say in response to those photos in 2007:

“I’ve sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women’s bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I’m not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image. A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn’t make you beautiful.”

“I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family. And like all women out there should, I love my body. To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini – put it on and stay strong.”

Well not much has changed when it comes to how she views her body. Sure maybe her weight has fluctuated and changed over the years, because guess what media, that’s what happens to EVERY woman! Jennifer spoke to Women’s Running magazine this month about body image and what it’s like to be an actress and constantly scrutinized about her looks. She says the only opinion that matters when it comes to her body image, is her own!
“I’m an actress, I live in L.A., I work in Hollywood. But I’ve learned that if you’re too skinny, they’ll say something about it. If you’re not skinny enough, they’ll say something about it. I just try to feel good in my own skin as much as I can.”

She has a great technique which we think all you readers should include in your daily routine. When she turned 30 in 2009 she started doing two things. At night she says five things she finds sexy about herself.

“Then, in the morning, before I leave the house, I say five things I love about myself, like ‘You have really pretty eyes.’ That way I can go out into the world with that little bit of extra confidence. It’s a feel-good protein shake in my back pocket in case someone messes with me that day.” she told Shape Magazine in 2009.

So does she ever get insecurities? Of course she does, she is still a woman and still a human being with feelings. But she doesn’t let that bring her down. “For the most part, I’m happy with my body, but there are days when I’m like, ‘Ugh! Really? Why is it so hard to fit into my jeans?’ That’s when I say to myself, ‘I look this way because I’m supposed to. If we all looked the same, we’d be boring.”

JLH, we love you for being such a beautiful woman and setting great examples for he rest of us who may be struggling with insecurities. Thank you for teaching us that we should never let anyone make us feel like less of a person just because of the way we look.
