Julia Gillard Puts the Smackdown On Political Misogyny In Australia

Australia’s first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, recently made world headlines when she spoke in Parliament house about the sexism within politics that still exists today.

The video got the attention of major blogs like Gawker and Buzzfeed and created major conversation about what she was saying.
She attacked the opposition leader Tony Abbott, labeling him as mysogynistic and sexist saying men with attitudes like this should not be allowed to be in powerful positions in this day and age.

You can watch the reaction of Abbott, like he has no idea what she is talking about but of course he would react like that. This is politics after all, gotta keep that poker face!

It is about time women in positions of power stand up for our persuasion and realize we still are battling the unfortunate stereotypes handed down from the baby boomer generation and beyond.

Thank you Julia Gillard for representing Australia women in Politucs, and women in general everywhere who deserve to be treated the same way in any industry!
