Where did your media and entertainment career begin, and did you always have aspirations to be on the mic?

I’ve been passionate about interviewing and being on-camera ever since I was a little girl. I became well-versed with dance and acting classes at the ages of three and five. My parents and I have always known that pursuing a career in the entertainment industry would wind up being inevitable, and we are all very pleased and proud that this is the route my career has taken.

Who were your role models growing up watching television, and what did you admire most about their work and presence on camera?

I really connected to the cast of the ladies on ‘The Real’ growing up, and I really appreciated observing the balance of women and their conversations, tackling diverse topics on the show. I admired the authenticity that I felt was displayed, and I very much enjoyed watching the ladies interact, interview their guests, and react on camera.

Tell us about the launch of ‘The Hannah Fletcher Show‘ – how did this all come about and what did it feel like launching your own show!

The show came as a result of years of hard work and due diligence flushing out what ultimately is now the talk show. I started a podcast in 2020 to be able to hone and refine my interviewing abilities with the intention of formulating my own project, which served as the blueprint for ‘The Hannah Fletcher Show’.

When you work and dream so hard, for one major goal, AND it comes to fruition…I feel beyond blessed and speechless at the whole thought of this happening. I am so incredibly proud. ‘The Hannah Fletcher Show’ is also thanks to my Executive Producer and Director, Eric Wheelwright. Eric and I connected at the beginning of last year. He has worked with legendary actors and musicians spanning many years and decades. It is a privilege to be able to learn from Eric and observe his mind as he assists with directing and crafting the vision for ‘The Hannah Fletcher Show’.

What is the day-to-day of an on-camera media personality like? Can you walk us through what it involves?

My day-to-day life consists of constantly jotting down notes when inspired by various guests to interview. I also take many phone calls and have many meetings. It always is a day that consists of some form of physical activity- mostly brisk walking. Moving my body is just as important to me as my work, because it keeps my mind in peak condition. Each day looks a little different, all depending on many factors, but each day is an absolute blessing!

The idea of having your own show can seem very glamorous indeed! But it is also a lot of hard work. What does it take to put together an episode or a season? What does that planning and creative process look like?

The process is a very supported one, indeed. It’s glamorous for sure, in the sense that the show is a project that I’ve curated the blueprint for- but each episode is very particularly crafted in researching my guests and finding what it is that I want to highlight or extrapolate from each conversation. My team is very assistive in the process of pitching and scheduling my guests and working rigorously during our shooting process, and even in the post-production process, and I insert my best foot forward in the design of the interview.

What is your favorite thing about interviewing guests and celebrities? And what is your secret to creating a great conversation that elicits fascinating answers?

I love interviewing because it’s an opportunity to spotlight someone and make them feel supported. I love to uncover anecdotes or facts about public figures that may not be popular knowledge. It feels like a gift when I’m able to gain special information!

When creating a conversation that elicits fascinating answers- my advice to unlocking my secret, would be to genuinely be dropped in and be curious. If you have a question pop up while conversing with someone, hold it until they are finished speaking, and ask it! I think often times, we want to ask the questions that others want to ask as well. In summary: be curious, be interested, and ask from the heart.

Who has been your fave celeb to interview so far?

I’ve had many memorable interactions and interviews! If I had to choose I would say that Bert Kreischer may have been my most memorable interview. Of course, being a fan of his comedy is absolutely a plus- but he was so kind and down-to-earth which is what was particularly exciting and memorable!

What can audiences expect when they watch your show, and how do you hope the show makes them feel or think about after?

I genuinely hope that each viewer feels inspired, and they can relate to myself and/ or my guest. Relatability is most definitely the most sought after craving that we possess as human beings. If my viewers can draw any parallel or feel validated at any point during my conversations with my guests- then I have done my job.

What advice can you share for aspiring journalists and hosts who want to follow in your footsteps, and find their own path?

If you have a passion to create, interview, or anything of the sort- honor and follow it to the best of your ability. Creatives are such a gift and they are some of the most interesting people that you will meet in this world. If you have any interest specifically in interviewing, begin by conducting interviews with anyone and everyone that you can. Continue to hone and practice your skills!

Can you tell us what your 5 and 10 year goals are in your career, and how you are working toward them today?

My goals overall involve the idea of continuing my talk show and offering interviews to my audience that continue to inspire them, as well as segments that are utterly life-changing. I also hold a BFA in Acting, and I would love the opportunity to be able to pursue acting in films as well in the near future.

Outside of the daily grind, what brings you joy, and how do you practice self-care?

I enjoy taking in religious podcasts, sermons, and walking in my spare time. I’m also a fan of a spa night, (like most), and just being able to light a candle and unwind and reflect on what my day has had to offer.
