I didn’t grow up with astrology. I grew up in Eastern Kentucky, small town, tight budget, and big dreams. Both of my parents were teachers working multiple jobs just to keep things going. We didn’t talk about alignment or soul paths. Success, in my world, meant you got out. You made money. You got an education and a predictable job.
I became a nurse because I thought it was the smartest way to help people and have a career that would always be needed. But deep down, I knew I wasn’t meant to follow someone else’s path. I started a side hustle teaching nurse practitioner students because I saw a need, and I couldn’t not fill it. I built it out of my attic, through Facebook messages and Venmo payments. No investors. No marketing budget. A one-woman show for a while, and then eventually a very lean team.
Two years later, that little side hustle had grown into a multi-million dollar company. We had thousands of students, a full-time team, and a brand people recognized across the country. I sold the business at 28.
Everyone told me I should feel proud….and I was. But something in me was already reaching toward the next version of myself.
I didn’t know it at the time, but that feeling – the restlessness, the craving for growth, the fire to chase what’s next – was written all over my chart. When I finally looked it up and saw I was a Sagittarius Rising, it was like someone handed me the manual I didn’t know I’d been following all along.
Your Rising Sign = Your Energetic First Impression
Most people think of their Sun sign when they hear astrology. That’s the one based on your birthday, and it speaks to your core personality, values, and identity. But your Rising sign is different. It’s the energy you lead with. It’s how the world sees you and how you move through it, especially in new spaces and professional settings.
In business, that energy matters more than people realize.
It’s your tone, your presence, your “you-ness” that people feel before they know anything else. Your Rising sign is the energetic filter that shapes how you engage with the world and how the world tends to experience you in return.
In a professional setting, it can show up in your leadership style, how you initiate things, and what kind of first impression you naturally create. It doesn’t mean you’re being fake. It just reflects the energy you tend to lead with.
If you’ve ever thought, why do I keep building things this way?
Or why do I keep leading like this, even when I try not to?
Or why do I burn out in the same patterns, no matter how successful I get?
Your Rising sign might hold a piece of that puzzle.
How Rising Signs Can Show Up in Business
This isn’t about labels. It’s about noticing patterns you’ve probably been living out for years. Below are a few ways each Rising sign might show up professionally:
- Aries Rising
You take initiative. You move fast. You probably launched something before you felt “ready.” You’re direct and action-oriented, but you might struggle with follow-through when the spark dies down. - Taurus Rising
You lead with calm, grounded energy. You probably take your time making moves, but once you commit, you’re in. People trust you because you’re consistent. Just make sure you’re not staying stuck out of comfort. - Gemini Rising
You’re full of ideas, and you know how to talk about them. Communication is your superpower, in branding, pitching, creating. You can pivot like no one else, but focus can be tricky. The key is choosing what’s worth staying curious about. - Cancer Rising
You lead with care. You probably feel more emotionally connected to your work than most people. You don’t just build businesses, you build communities. Your challenge is learning where you end and others begin. - Leo Rising
You’ve always been visible, whether you asked for it or not. You shine when you lead with authenticity. You inspire others when you’re not trying too hard to be perfect. People are drawn to your presence, not just your resume. - Virgo Rising
You lead with excellence. You see the details others miss. People probably come to you for clarity and strategy. But perfectionism can slow you down. Done is better than perfect, especially when you’re building something that matters. - Libra Rising
You lead with grace and aesthetic intelligence. You know how to make things feel cohesive, beautiful, and collaborative. People feel safe around you. But don’t let people-pleasing keep you from taking up space in your own story. - Scorpio Rising
You’re strategic, intense, and emotionally perceptive. You probably keep a lot private, even as you build something powerful. People sense your depth, even when you’re silent. Your edge is your intuition. Don’t be afraid to use it. - Sagittarius Rising
You’re here for the big vision. You say yes before the plan is clear. You believe in what you’re building, and that belief is contagious. You’re here to expand, teach, lead, and go off-script. But you’ll need to learn how to rest too. - Capricorn Rising
You were probably “the responsible one” before you even had a job. You lead with structure, ambition, and follow-through. You know how to build and how to lead others. But success means nothing if you don’t feel it in your body too. - Aquarius Rising
You lead with innovation. You see what’s broken, and you want to fix it. You build for the future. Your work probably challenges the norm. Just don’t isolate yourself. You don’t have to go against the grain alone. - Pisces Rising
You lead with intuition and heart. You make people feel things. You might not see yourself as a “business person,” but that’s what makes your presence so powerful. Just be careful not to absorb everyone else’s energy in the process.
This Isn’t About a Shortcut, It’s About Awareness
Astrology doesn’t give you the answers. But it does give you language.
For me, it helped me understand that the way I built my business wasn’t random. It reflected how I move through the world. That hunger for meaning, growth, and freedom, that was always going to be part of my story. But it doesn’t have to drive me into the ground.
Now when I launch something new, or start feeling the urge to burn everything down just to feel something again, I pause. I ask: is this my Sagittarius Rising talking? Or is it something deeper?
You don’t need astrology to be successful.
But it can be a powerful mirror, especially for women who are carving out their own path, questioning the rules they were raised with, or trying to redefine what success even means.
Because the truth is, you’ve probably been living your Rising sign this whole time.
Now you just get to do it on purpose.
