Building Your Inner Champion: How To Silence Your Inner Critic And Lead With Confidence.

By Whitney Alexandra

Ten years ago, I found myself in a place so many powerful, ambitious women can relate to. On the outside, my life was going well. I had a dream career. I was successful. But on the inside, I was in burnout and overwhelmed by life and work. I couldn’t see a different path forward.

It took changing career paths entirely to find my purpose and create a more meaningful life—a life that inspired me, filled me with joy, and made me feel like I was living up to my TRUE potential.

I took that same passion for life and started working with women to help them create the most fabulous version of their life. Today, that decision has led me to become one of the most in-demand performance coaches for women entrepreneurs who are serious about unlocking their ultimate potential.

As women, we strive to be ambitious and high-performing. However, there are times when our inner critic takes over and makes us question our abilities – “Are you sure about that? Do you really think you can do that? You’re not ready for that.”  This voice can hinder our progress and prevent us from reaching the next level. To overcome this, it’s important to replace self-criticism with positive and empowering thoughts. By doing so, we can boost our self-confidence, improve our self-image, and build a truly limitless business.

Here are five things you can do to silence your inner critic and unleash your inner champion:

1. Notice the thought

It’s important to be aware of the thoughts you have and the stories you tell yourself. This is the first step in changing your mindset. Pay attention to when and where these thoughts come up. It’s also helpful to investigate each thought to understand what it is and how you feel about it. For instance, if negative thoughts about money always come up, you should ask yourself what emotion is attached to it, whether it’s shame, guilt, or fear.

You should also consider if the thought is truly yours or if you’ve adopted it from someone else. Many of our thoughts and beliefs are not actually our own, but rather things we’ve heard and internalized from others, be it family, friends, social media, society, etc. To remove negative thoughts or beliefs, follow the rest of the steps.

2. Review the facts

Believe in yourself and your abilities. Don’t let negative thoughts and beliefs bring you down. Take a moment to reflect on whether they are facts or fiction and understand what is true for you. Just because others believe something to be true, doesn’t mean it has to be for you. You are in control of your thoughts and can reframe them to be positive and empowering. Remember, you have the power to shape your beliefs and thoughts to achieve your goals.

3. Reframe your beliefs

Every negative belief and thought is an opportunity to shift your mindset and the related behaviors and emotions. When reframing a belief, the goal is to shift from negative to a more positive thought. Keeping your beliefs positive will maximize the benefits you experience.

Some examples of reframing:

  1. Old belief: I’m not good with money. New beliefs: I’m excellent with money. I trust myself with money. Money is safe with me.
  2. Old belief: I always mess things up. New beliefs: I’m confident and resourceful. I always figure things out. I’m an excellent problem solver.
  3. Old belief: I’m not good enough. New beliefs: I am good enough. I am the very best at what I do.

4. Celebrate every win

Remember to practice gratitude and celebrate all of your wins, no matter how small they may seem. Doing so can help you cultivate a resilient and powerful mindset that always looks for the positive. Consistently celebrating your successes can quickly boost your confidence and help you stay focused on your goals. When you reflect on your achievements, you remind yourself of your strength, determination, and consistency.

We often forget our successes and fail to take time to appreciate them. By committing to this strategy, you can continue building your success and develop an inner champion mindset that radiates positivity and attracts new opportunities.

5. Create new proof points

You have within you the power to shape your own destiny and achieve your dreams. Even if you feel like you haven’t yet accomplished enough, don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Instead, take the reins and create your own victories, using your creativity to find evidence that supports your new beliefs. As you celebrate each win and build on your successes, you’ll find that your confidence and resilience grow stronger. Believe in yourself and your abilities, for you are capable of greatness beyond your wildest dreams.
