There is so much heaviness in the world right now. All you have to do is look at *gestures at everything* to feel overwhelmed and hopeless about the future. There is very little out there in the world we can control, whether we’re talking about the impact of war, political instability, displacement, targeted harassment toward a particular group of people or the attacks on our bodily autonomy. The only thing we have the power to control is ourselves and our thoughts.
During the difficult times, many of us turn to some sort of guide, often something spiritual, that can help us navigate treacherous waters. Spiritual guide Jenna Brocious knows first hand how spirituality and faith can be a powerful tool to get you through the hard times, as she has relied on it throughout her life.
Jenna is a wife, mother, and spiritual intuitive who has worn many hats in life on her journey to find purpose outside the home. Jenna has always had a spiritual connection to a higher power, which continues to be something very important to her. In 2019, Jenna started to intentionally sit in prayer and meditation, which is where the idea for her Positive Intention Prayer Cards was born. She believes her prayer cards are God (or “Source” or “the Universe”) working through her.
Jenna’s faith and trust is strengthened by her own journey of deep healing. She wants everyone to know that just because something bad may have happened to you, it doesn’t mean that’s who you are. Having a positive mindset, along with her faith, are two of her biggest priorities in life.
It’s Jenna’s mission to help, heal, and spread love to others, and she’s committed to sharing her message of love and healing with as many people as possible through her speaking and her prayer cards.
We had the chance to chat with Jenna about her own healing journey and what kind of impact she hopes her prayer cards will have on others.
Can you tell us a little about your upbringing and where your spiritual journey began?
I was raised by a single mother, a narcissist and alcoholic, with a revolving door of men. My mother always worked hard and showed me what not to do in life.
My spiritual journey started when I decided I needed to find forgiveness for my mother to find peace in life. In 2015, I found myself at a crossroads. I chose to invest in myself and follow the pain. And with that, my connection to God grew, and spiritual intuitive gifts started to present themselves.
You are on a mission to help others navigate through their pain. Was there an event or moment in your own life that made you choose this focus?
Yes, I always knew what I had overcome was not easy, and I eventually realized how valuable my knowledge was. With the prayer cards, it gave me the opportunity to start sharing that more.
Shame is a very crippling emotion that can derail our life journey. How are you helping others own their story and live their authentic lives?
Shame is a very hard emotion to carry, and I recently recognized that I had been carrying my own. Since that realization, I have been writing a book about overcoming the shame and guilt of generational trauma, and it is not my burden to carry.
I am here to help, heal, and spread more love. Overcoming hardship is a very personal, introspective journey.
Help: When I share my story, I hope that others recognize that they are not alone and that if she can do it, so can I. We all have more in common than we realize.
Heal: Once you start the healing journey, you will find that loving yourself and others will come easily. I think it is important to say that the healing process is a personal responsibility that cannot be put on anyone else but yourself.
Love: Loving yourself for all that you are or are not is living your most authentic life. No one is perfect. Be your best version. That is all you can ask yourself.
Can you tell us more about the Positive Intention Prayer cards and how the idea came about?
In the fall of 2019, I slowed down my real estate career because it was not filling my cup the way I had hoped. So, for the next 6 months, I sat on my office floor, praying to God to show me my divine purpose. I cried, meditated, journaled, and prayed every day for hours after taking my son to preschool. I learned many things in that six months. But in that time, God laid on my heart so clearly the idea for the prayer cards and how they would look. In September 2020, I was able to execute my idea, and it went effortlessly.
Although there are bible verses featured on them, how are you aiming to appeal to a wide customer base, whether they are religious or not?
I am not sure of that yet. I think that the bible can be overwhelming to some people. I felt that putting one bible verse on the card that correlated with the topic was important. I didn’t make them for just people who believe in God but also for the person who is looking for that missing piece in their life.
How has the power of positive intention impacted and/or changed your life as a mother?
Being a mother with a positive outlook is very important to me. Teaching my son that “everything is always working in his favor “ is a top priority. He repeats a fun few lines to me every day in the car on our way to school. How we overcome hardship or just daily interaction is a big part of our success in life. We will encounter people and places that rub us the wrong way, and teaching my son about his emotions and reactions is important.
My hope is that he moves through life with compassion and understanding, not allowing others to take him out of his alignment. Knowing that if something doesn’t go the way he planned, but having faith that there is a bigger and better plan out there for him. Motherhood changed everything for me.
You are a believer that everything happens for a reason. What would you say to someone in the middle of a difficult circumstance who may want to push back against this statement?
We are all going to encounter moments in life that we just survive through but try to learn from the hardship. Once that moment has passed, it is time to thrive again because you are deserving. Don’t forget that! We are not meant to live in pain forever. Thrive!
What does it mean to be a spiritually intuitive guide, and how has your intuition helped in crucial moments in your own life?
To me, a spiritual intuitive guide is someone who can connect with loved ones who have passed on, angels, and spirit guides. It is a God-given gift. At this point, it is not a main focus for me. But considered a tool in my tool belt.
I have always been intuitive since I was a little girl. When I was young, I would get gut-churning stomach aches before something bad happened in my house. Now, I live a life every day following my intentions and feelings. I trust, believe, and allow.
Can you tell us more about the power of intention, and how it can change things in our everyday life?
I am very intentional about everything I do and say. I am intentional with my time and who I share it with. In the beginning it was difficult. I have learned that if I give a situation negative energy that is what I get back. I do check in with myself when I feel thrown off, and reevaluate. I chose every day before I put my feet on the ground to have ease, grace and love for myself and others.
I have been practicing this for a few years now and it is wild to watch my desires and dreams come true. I ask and I receive. I choose to see the glass half full if not all the way full. Once I saw the world was for me, everything in my world changed. I live a fun and happy life. But, I choose that every morning.
For someone interested in looking for a way to inject positivity into their daily lives, what would you say to them about trying the Positive Intention Prayer cards?
I love the positivity prayer card. It is a great first step. Reading before you get out of bed and throughout your day. I made the prayer cards to give others the words they might be struggling to find. Plus, the bible verse on the positivity prayer cards is one of my favorites.
“Pleasant words are the honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. ” Proverbs 16:24
